VOLUNTEERS COMPARED
Here is an interesting and curious interview with two of our special volunteers, the youngest and the oldest. We can see how different generations experience our events. But most importantly how they feel about our future....
Our interviewees are:
Security service at the Cross-Country Stadium in Lago di Tesero. For 32 years, since 1990, the year of the pre-world championships.
“TIRACAVI”, meaning TV CABLAGES. From 2020, 2 years
They asked me to join the Team and I gladly accepted to help with an extraordinary event for that time. As I was the Fire Chief of Tesero, they proposed me to take the role of Security responsible.
I decided to join the team because my dad is a volunteer and also my grandfather was a volunteer. He needed another person and asked me If I would like to join the team.
The thing that keeps me coming back every year is mainly the love for the sport, particularly for this discipline. I certainly enjoy being part of such an important event. Having the opportunity to meet new people and get in touch with athletes.
The best part is the end of the competitions, when we have to disassemble the cables. Because I can get on the snowmobile with my dad to pick the telecameras around the Stadium.
I would encourage young people to have altruism and generosity by making themselves available for such important events involving our Valley. I think it’s also about the society, the profit goes not only to the OC but also to the position of Val di Fiemme in the World scene.
I would recommend this experience because even if some days you struggle or the weather doesn’t help, at the end of the day you are satisfied with the work you have done, and when you see the footage on television you realize there is also a little part of your work there. You can also meet new people and make new friends.
If God wills it and health helps me, I am still available to the limit of capacity.
Work permitting, I want to be present as a volunteer at the 2026 Olympics. I think it is important to involve new volunteers because it will be a challenging event and you need everyone’s help.
I’m excited, I didn’t think I would get a chance in life to see Olympics in Val di Fiemme. I think it is also a recognition of what has been done over the year in our valley.
It is certainly a great event that will bring a lot of people! Hoping the new facilities will be also used after the Olympics, perhaps with the 4th World Championship!
