VAL DI FIEMME | HOST VENUE NORDIC SKI

The crowning moment of Val di Fiemme's long "career" in Nordic Skiing is the allocation of Nordic Skiing disciplines for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics. Val di Fiemme, with the Cross-Country Skiing stadium in Lago di Tesero and the Ski Jumping stadium in Predazzo, will be the Host Venue for the Nordic disciplines (Cross-Country Skiing, Nordic Combined, Special Jumping) as well as for the Paralympics cross-country and biathlon.

The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games will arrive in Italy from 6 to 22 February 2026, while the Paralympic Games will be from 6 to 15 March 2026.

2023 has been an important year for the Nordic Ski Val di Fiemme Organizing Committee, as the agreement with the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation was signed on May 17. A step that confirms the strong connection between the Foundation and its territories, a key component for the Milano Cortina 2026 OlympicsThe cooperation with the Nordic Ski Val di Fiemme Committee represents the continuity and constancy that the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation intends to maintain in its relationship with local entities, which are full of excellence and uniqueness. An indication of trust that the Foundation places in the experience of the organizations involved, with a deep knowledge of all organizational aspects related to the realization of big events, such as the World Championships and the World Cup. "The agreement signed with the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation," said Bruno Felicetti, Executive President of the Nordic Ski Val di Fiemme Organizing Committee, "represents a fundamental step in planning the organization of the Great Event of the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. It allows our Organizing Committee to activate the complex organizing machine and immediately engage the more than 1,000 volunteers who will work with us for the success of the event. It is also a recognition of many years of dedication (more than 35 years) of the Nordic Ski Val di Fiemme Committee in the realization of International events and the crowning of a dream for the entire Val di Fiemme with all public and private entities and for Trentino."

  • Val di Fiemme will award 32% of the medals for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics and Paralympics, organising a total of 60 competitions: 21 Olympic and 39 Paralympic competitions.

  • With the awarding of the Olympics 2026, Val di Fiemme becomes the only location in the Nordic Ski circuit, together with Oslo and Sapporo, to have hosted all the most important events of the white circus: Olympics, World Championships and World Cup!

  • With modernization and renovation works for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics, the two stadiums in Predazzo and Lago di Tesero can aim to become the official Nordic Ski FISI Training Center, providing athletes with a leading training facility.

  • Franco Nones (from Castello di Fiemme) won the legendary first gold medal for the Italian Team in the 30km cross-country race at the 1968 Grenoble Winter Olympic Games: a stunning achievement that marked a turning point in the world of cross-country skiing, which until then had been the unchallenged reign of Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish and Russian champions. As chance would have it, Franco Nones was actually wearing number 26 that day!

  • Giorgio Vanzetta, from Val di Fiemme, is one of the most Olympic medaled athletes in Italian cross-country skiing, with 4 Olympic medals: gold in the Lillehammer 1994 relay, silver in the Albertville 1992 relay, where he also won 2 individual bronze medals, in the 50km and the pursuit.

  • Christian Zorzi, Zorro for his exuberant character, is also from the Trentino valley, with three Olympic medals won in cross-country skiing: bronze in the 2002 Salt Lake City sprint, where he also won silver in the relay, while gold came in the legendary relay in Torino 2006.
