Val di Fiemme continues on its way to the 2026 Milano Cortina Paralympic Games with the FIS Para Cross Country World Cup stage that starts off with the Sprint Race in classic technique. Between the tracks of the Cross-Country Stadium of Lago di Tesero the show was not missing and the victories went all to different nations, with Brazil, China, Germany, Norway, USA and Austria successes.
In a spectacular finale, the Brazilian Cristian Westemaier Ribera won in the Sitting category, winning ahead of the Chinese Mengtao Liu and the brilliant Giuseppe Romele. In the women's Sitting category, the winner was China's Yuxin Zhai, author of a solid comeback race against Germany's Anja Wicker, with Kendall Gretsch from the USA completing the podium.
The victories in the Standing category in the 1 km sprint were shared between Germany and Norway: in the men's category, the German Sebastian Marburger cut the finish line ahead of the French Karl Tabouret and the Japanese Yoshihiro Nitta, while in the women's category, the prodigious Norwegian Vilde Nilsen dominated all the race phases and also won the finish line ahead of the Ukranian Oleksandra Kononova and the Chinese Zhiqing Zhao.
The race in the Vision Impaired category closed the day's competition as scheduled. In the women's event, the Austrian Carina Edlinger sealed a perfectly controlled race to finish ahead of the German Leonie Maria Walter and the Chinese Yue Wang. In the men's race, in the final straight, it looked like everything was set for the success of the Swedish Zebastian Modin, who just a few metres from the finish line ran into a fall: the winner was the American Jake Adicoff ahead of the NorwegianThomas Oxaal, with Modin consoling himself with third place.
Tomorrow at the Cross-Country Stadium of Lago di Tesero, it will continue with the 10 km Individual race, which closes the Test Event programme.
