Tomorrow day off from racing, in the weekend the Para Cross-Country World Cup
The Lago di Tesero Cross-Country Stadium was the scene of the 2nd and final round of the IBU Para Biathlon World Cup stage, with Val di Fiemme set to host the Test Events of the 2026 Milano Cortina Paralympic Winter Games. In today's 7.5 km Sprint ser
ies, Mengtao Liu (CHN), Shiyu Wang (CHN), Mark Arendz (CAN), Oleksandra Kononova (UKR), Oleksandr Kazik (UKR) and Leonie Maria Walter (GER) won.
In the Sitting category, China celebrated the successes of Mengtao Liu over Kazakhstan's Yerbol Khamitov and the compatriot Zixu Liu in the men's event, while in the women's event, Shiyu Wang won ahead of the favourite Anja Wicker, who paid the price for a mistake at the shooting range, and the other Chinese Yuxin Zhai.
The Canadian Mark Arendz repeated yesterday’s success in the standing category, preceding the Chinese colleague Jiayun Cai and the Ukrainian Serhii Romaniuk, all of whom had a clear-cut performance at the shooting range. In the women’s race, Oleksandra Kononova, after yesterday’s 4th place, gave proof of her strength and although she made a mistake in the shooting, she made the difference in the skiing section by winning ahead of the Chinese Zhiqing Zhao and the compatriot Iryna Bui, both of whom made no mistakes in the shooting range.
The rifles well lined up at the range in the Vision Impaired category waited until 3 pm for the start of the competition, which was postponed as the reflections of the sun on the snow and ice at the range impaired the participants' aim. The winner of the men’s race was Olksander Kazik ahead of the compatriots Iaroslav Reshetynskyi and Anatolii Kovalevskyi, for an all-Ukrainian podium. In the women’s race, the victory went to Germany with Leonia Maria Walter, ahead of the Chinese Yue Wang and her compatriot Johanna Recktenwald.
Tomorrow there will be a break from the Paralympics Test Event races of Milano Cortina 2026, with the Cross-Country Stadium of Lago di Tesero animated by the test of Lieutenant Colonel Gianfranco Paglia, who will attempt to set the two-hour record. From Saturday, the FIS Para Cross-Country World Cup races.
