BECCHIS AND SÖMSKAR AS FAST AS ARROWS
THE CERMIS JUDGE BETWEEN TANEL AND DELLAGIACOMA

Becchis stage and Sprint Cup winner
For the Swede success and overall World Cup in advance
Ghiddi second and absolute junior Cup victory
Tomorrow on the Cermis final fight between the two Italians

Pure entertainment in the second day of the final Rollerski World Cup stage in Val di Fiemme. In the 200 meters of the sprint race, in via Nazionale in Ziano, the best interpreters of speed rollerskiing battled it out on a summer's day in front of a large crowd.
The main interest laid in the men’s senior race. Both for the category and overall ranking. The champion Emanuele Becchis confirmed with relative ease that he is unbeatable in the sprint races. In the semi-final against Michele Valerio, third in the final ranking, overcame a stick mishap and defeated the athlete from Trentino without too much trouble. In the final, the same mishap affected the Norwegian opponent Jostein Olafsen, but perhaps for Becchis the final was already written.
Matteo Tanel and Tommaso Dellagiacoma, who were both eliminated in the round of 16, resulted respectively sixteenth and tenth, so that in the overall there was an overtaking of the Fiemmese who now has a three-point advantage over the athlete from Bolzano. Tomorrow the last race Mass Start Uphill, starting in Ziano and finishing on the Cermis Alp, will decide who will win the World Cup. Title that in the women’s category, instead, has already been conquered by the Swede Linn Sömskar thanks to today’s victory over her bitter rival of the season, the Norwegian Julie Arnesen. Third place for the other Swede Jackline Lockner (ahead Lisa Bolzan) to complete an all-Scandinavian podium.
In the junior women’s category, victory for the Latvian Linda Kaparkaleja who preceded Anna Maria Ghiddi and the Kazakh Mariya Gerachshenko. With today’s placing in Ziano the 18-years-old Anna Maria Ghiddi is the new overall junior World Champion, proving that Italian women’s rollerskiing can count on a winning athlete in the near future.
Finally, in the junior men’s category success for the Swede Jonatan Lindberg who preceded the Latvian Silvestrs Svauksts and Alessandro Corradi from Verona.
Now all the attention is turned to tomorrow’s final race with the ascent from Ziano to Alpe Cermis that will determine the last verdicts of 2023. Congratulations again to Fiemme World Cup committee for the flawless organisation that satisfied the sixteen nations present in Val di Fiemme.
