‘RAMPA’: HEROS IN VAL DI FIEMME OLYMPIANS AND AMATEURS, CHALLENGE ON THE CERMIS
The ‘Rampa con I Campioni’ presented by Cassa Rurale Val di Fiemme’ on Sunday The Olympians Northug (NOR) and Neumannová (CZE) challenge again the Alpe Cermis Following the traces of the World Cup big in the 10 km Open in skating Start at 11 am from the Lago di Tesero Stadium, online registrations are open

It may be written “Rampa con I Campioni,” but it is spelt “amateurs and big names challenge”. It is the most apt name there is: the Val di Fiemme Open race, titled in this edition by Cassa Rurale Val di Fiemme, is an unmissable event for lovers of cross-country skiing and challenges that only at first glance seem impossible. The appointment is set for Sunday, January 5, at 11 am on the fascinating Alpe Cermis ramp.

The Rampa con I Campioni traces the legendary Cermis Final Climb in every way and on Sunday for the 19th time awards the prestigious Tour de Ski trophy and leads the best cross-skiers in the world from the Cross-Country Stadium of Lago di Tesero to the Alpe Cermis. In the 10 km in free technique amateurs and cross-country skiers of every type will be the ‘forerunners’ of honour to the top of international cross-country skiing, competing from 11 am along the ramps at an average gradient of 12% with peaks touching 30%.

At the ‘Rampa’ enthusiast of cross-country skiing have the possibility to try first hand the thrill of accomplishing one of the most iconic sporting feats of the white circus between two wings of crowd. Not only, in addition to the satisfaction of reaching the finish line near the Doss dei Laresi cable car, amateurs can add that of skiing alongside some of the most successful athletes and former athletes on the international scene. At the Rampa con I Campioni of Val di Fiemme the participations of Olympic and world champions are uncountable, and this edition, the 13-times world champion Petter Northug (NOR) and the Olympian Kateřina Neumannová (CZE) are already eagerly awaited. Northug, who has won a Tour de Ski in his career, is well acquainted with the steep sections of the Olimpia III track at Cermis, and Neumannová, who has already won the Rampa and collected five podiums in the Open, is no less impressive. These multiple medallists could also be joined by record-breaker and four-time Tour de Ski winner Dario Cologna (SUI), who is busy on race days in the Tour de Ski commentary booth with Swiss TV.

To call the competitors ‘amateurs’ is really an understatement: the protagonists of the Rampa con I Campioni have nothing to envy to the great champions of the World Cup, considering that last year's winner Magnus Noroy (NOR) would have ranked 10th among the World Cup’s big with a time of absolute value, well considering that the Tour athletes have a week and more of races behind them. By now, it is well known that amateur cross-country skiers take their commitments on snow more and more seriously, training consistently and devoting time and attention even to the choice of materials and care in nutrition. Shortly after its birth, the climb of the Alpe Cermis seemed an unthinkable and unattainable sporting challenge even for professionals, and today it is surpassed by amateurs.

Registration for the new edition of the ‘Rampa con I Campioni presented by Cassa Rurale Val di Fiemme’ is now open online (€ 30) and is open until Saturday 4 January (12 pm). There are still about forty race bibs available, so it's better not to miss the opportunity to enrich one's trophy cabinet with participation in such an iconic event as the ‘Rampa’ and seize the opportunity at once. The organising committee Nordic Ski Val di Fiemme and its volunteers are ready to pamper the participants of the Rampa con I Campioni with the much-appreciated ancillary services of the race.
