At the feet of the Dolomites, sprinkled with the first seasonal snow, it was the time for the Sprint 200 metres. Sensational, as always, Emanuele Becchis proved once again that there is none for anyone in this race format, ruling again in his favourite context and winning his fourth world title (after the one in Sweden and the two in Val di Fiemme in 2015 and 2021). Regret for Michele Valerio, who gave up in the semifinal against the Norwegian, in the last race of his carrier, Jostein Olafsen, celebrated to the tune of champagne at the finish line as tradition dictates.
Also fabulous was Alba Mortagna, (ITA) who completed a dream race beating in the final Linn Sömskar, multiple World Champion and overall World Cup leader. The Italian, born in 2000, after obtaining the third time in the qualifications, won in tears, the last finish of the day. After the finish, the newly crowned champion realized from the photographers and camera operators that she had won the title!
A great Anna Maria Ghiddi won another title by repeating the gold in the 10 km mass start, dominating far and wide the Junior competition and winning the Sprint World Cup by gaining the leadership in the overall standings, which will end on Sunday on Cermis. Among the Junior men, Italy was on the podium again! Historic gold for Mongolia, with Khuslen Ariunjargal surprising everyone by winning the most valuable metal, carried in triumph by his teammates. In tears was Swedish finalist Ville Jutterdal, silver.
More excitement tomorrow, with the Team Sprints promising a great show! Halfway point for the event under the supervision of the Nordic Ski Val di Fiemme organizing committee headed by Pietro De Godenz.
