It was the packed conference room at the Trentino Marketing headquarters that hosted the press conference for the presentation of the Rollerski World Championships in Val di Fiemme, which from September 12th to 15th will liven up the valley between Ziano di Fiemme and the Alpe Cermis. It is the “master of the house” Maurizio Rossini who opened the round up of speeches: “Here we run the risk of getting used to big events with such experienced organizing committee and able of bringing the name of Trentino to the top, creating an image of a serious and organized reality.” Declared the CEO of Trentino Marketing. Then it was Tito Giovannini’s turn, member of the Fondazione Milano Cortina and a well-known face in Val di Fiemme for having served as general secretary of the 1991 World Championships. “It is also through these manifestations that the journey towards the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games of our territory continues. It is an appointment for which the aim to guarantee the same media and organizing attention to both the events in Val di Fiemme, which will host both the Nordic skiing races and the Para Biathlon and Para Nordic ones, through a continuous dialogue with the other realities of the territory and the national ones such as CONI and FISI.”
Following is the speech of the President of the Provincial Committee of CONI, Paola Mora: “Val di Fiemme confirms itself as the centre of gravity of an important sporting event, it seems impossible and yet this territory always has a growing trend and guarantees organizational standards of the highest level. I would also like to emphasize the growth of the roller-skiing discipline that occurred through the work done in Trentino, witnessed by the numbers of participating athletes: over 200 from as many as 31 nations.”
In a morning full of appointments, the Vice-President of the Autonomous Province of Trento's and Councillor for Sport, Francesca Gerosa carved out time to speak at the press conference of the Rollerski World Championships: “I couldn't miss it, first of all to wish everyone a good job ahead of this event. We know how attentive the Province is to the promotion of the territory and sports, and finally yet importantly, I would like to thank the volunteers who take time away from their work, their affections, to dedicate themselves passionately to our manifestations.”
Leading the set-up for the Rollerski World Championships is the organizing committee Nordic Ski Val di Fiemme, for which President Pietro De Godenz is the one to take the floor: “This big event was proposed to us by the International Federation, as opposed to what usually happens, when it is the localities that request the possibility to host the events. The FIS was certain that in Val di Fiemme “would be on the safe side” and that our team would guarantee the realization of a top-event. This can only please us and this credit goes to the team and our irreplaceable volunteers. I close by wishing the best of luck to the Italian athletes.”
Speaking of athletes, there were three national team members summoned by TD Sbabo present in the hall: Nicole Monsorno, Tommaso Dellagiacoma and Matteo Tanel made themselves available to the press, declaring themselves enthusiastic in view of this umpteenth great appointment in their home territory. “I am happy to honour the Val di Fiemme organization with this World Championship. As a cross-country skier I use roller-skies as a training tool and I will want to play my cards to the best of my ability,” said the Italian finance police athlete Nicole Monsorno. ““Racing in Val di Fiemme is always nice, I am bond to the valley by beautiful memories and I will live these races peacefully. Here you feel at home and I feel much more relaxed racing with the local fans on our side than abroad,” added Matteo Tanel (Team Robinson Trentino) instead. “My shape seems to be growing, I didn't start well and I would like to finish better. Last year Matteo (Tanel) and I battled to the last centimetre of the Alpe, and this year I am really rooting for him for the World Cup! Since it will also be a World Championship, they will all be kind of stand-alone races and the show will benefit from this,” added Dellagiacoma (Team Internorm Trentino).
At the ending, it was the vice president and head of volunteers of the organizing committee, Mauro Dezulian, who illustrated the race program of the Rollerski World Championships: “we will start on Thursday 12th from the Mass Start FT in Ziano di Fiemme and on Friday 13th we will experience the great “concentrated” spectacle of the Sprint. On Saturday 14th the Team Sprint will be proposed, while on Sunday 15th we will close the World Championship with the “Cermis Final Climb” between one monumental battle and another,” with Dezulian also recalling ”the substantial effort of our team of volunteers that will reach about 400 units.”
Appointment at the Rollerski World Championships, and then again at the Tour de Ski (Jan. 3-4-5, 2025), Para Biathlon races (Jan. 29-30, 2025), Para Nordic races (Feb. 1-2, 2025) and at the Fiemme Summer Nordic Festival (Sep. 18-21, 2025).
