The races staged in Val di Fiemme will be valid for the assignment of the coveted world titles as well as the third and final stage of the 2024 World Cup season. After the appointments in Madona (Latvia, 17-18-20-21 July) and Schuchinsk (Kazakhstan, 14-15-17-18 August), the world’s best roller-skiers will gather in Ziano di Fiemme for four days of great sport.
On Thursday, September 12th, the Mass Start in free technique (10/15 km) will get the ball rolling at the World Championships, with the starts scheduled from 4 pm to 5:30 pm for the competing categories, in this order: Junior women and men, senior women and men. On Friday 13th it will be the turn of the 200 m Individual Sprint in free technique, with qualifications scheduled from 4 pm and the thrilling finals from 5:15 pm. Saturday 14th the show will continue with the Team Sprint in free technique: from 3 pm the junior categories will be busy in the 2x6.5 km (3+3 laps) followed by the Senior in the 2x11 km (5+5 laps). The unique and unparalleled Uphill Mass Start “Cermis Final Climb” (13/15 km) will mark the fourth and final day of Sunday September 15th. The Alpe Cermis ascent is planned for the morning, with starts scheduled from 9 am to 10:30 am for the junior and senior women and men categories. Once again, on the paved ramps of the Final Climb, an unmatchable sporting spectacle will be staged by Val di Fiemme, able to keep enthusiasts and technicians with bathed breath until the last metre in a challenge that will decide the fate of the world title and the World Cup.
With just under a month to go until the start of the Rollerski World Cup, the Italian roller-skiers season has already started. Last weekend, in Samatorza, in the province of Trieste, the 2024 edition of the NextPro Italian Cup made its debut. A Sprint and a Mass Start, both in free technique, animated the weekend with the women’s victories of Alba Mortagna (SC Valdobbiadene) and Lisa Bolzan (SC Orsago), respectively, who alternated first and second place in the two days of competition. On the men's side, two races and two victories for the sprinter Emanuele Becchis, who won both Saturday's Sprint and Sunday's Mass Start, the latter won in a heart-stopping finale with a decisive sprint that favoured the SC Alpi Marittime athlete.
The expert staff of the Nordic Ski Val di Fiemme committee, led by President Pietro De Godenz, is hard at work on the preparation of a high-level world event that will confirm Ziano di Fiemme, Val di Fiemme and Trentino as unique destinations for elite sport.
