IN VAL DI FIEMME THE FEDERAL CENTRE RODA'S SIGNATURE AND A GLIMPSE OF 2033
The agreement preceding the official contract is signed on the occasion of the 19th Tour de Ski

Roda (FISI): a great opportunity for growth that gives continuity to the new generations
Enthusiasm among the Fiemme administrators Ceschini, Boninsegna, Zorzi and Nordic Ski
Tesero, Predazzo and Ville di Fiemme are ready for the centre and think... to 2033

All that was missing was to make it official: this early morning at the Press Centre of the Cross-Country Stadium of Lago di Tesero, which is hosting this weekend the Tour de Ski, the letter of intent was signed for the recognition of Val di Fiemme as the FISI Federal Centre for Nordic disciplines. In the presence of the federal president Flavio Roda, the mayors of Tesero and Predazzo Elena Ceschini and Paolo Boninsegna, along with the deputy mayor of Ville di Fiemme Mattia Zorzi, affixed their signatures on the contract proposal.

Genuinely enthusiastic was the president of the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) Flavio Roda in admitting that: ‘this is undoubtedly a great opportunity for Val di Fiemme. It is a new beginning to give continuity to the decades-long work that this venue has been doing in the sports scene. This project will be a real turning point for our young athletes, who will not have long journeys to make, but will be here on a ‘permanent’ basis and will be able to give continuity to their growth path'.

There was also great satisfaction and pride in the words of the representative of the municipalities of Fiemme involved in the initiative, with the host of the event, Tesero's mayor Elena Ceschini, emphasising the importance of becoming a state-of-the-art sports centre of reference. Predazzo's mayor, Paolo Boninsegna, who was also present, agreed with Tesero’s mayor words, unfailingly thanking FISI, pointing out that the federal centre will be a growth initiative for the new generations. The mayor of Ville di Fiemme, Paride Gianmoena, was absent, with the municipality hosting the Passo Lavazè ski centre represented by deputy mayor Mattia Zorzi, who pointed out that: ‘the opportunity of the federal centre will reconfirm the prominent role of Val di Fiemme within the sports panorama’.

The great value of cross-country skiing in Val di Fiemme and Fassa was also recognised by the presence of the sports centres of the Italian finance police and the Italian police.

The Autonomous Province of Trento is a fundamental partner in the Val di Fiemme dynamics and its federal centre. The deputy mayor and sports councillor Francesca Gerosa, despite her institutional engagements, did not fail to bring her greetings: ‘The Province is investing heavily in the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic and Paralympic Games, and with a recent resolution has, in fact, sanctioned the importance of the Tesero Cross-Country Skiing Centre, making it a relevant sports facility. This underlines the consideration that the Province gives to facilities in the area: during and after the Games, Trentino will be able to boast a technologically advanced, accessible and modern sports facility, which in the future will be able to host all kinds of competitions, both national and international’.

At the signing of the letter of intent, which found maximum collaboration between all the realities involved and which precedes the actual contract that will be signed by the respective municipal councils with FISI, the organising committee Nordic Ski Val di Fiemme also brought greetings from its president Pietro De Godenz, who was extremely proud of the result achieved. In the letter of intent, the duration (20 years), the general conditions and the economic treatment of the Federation that will support the initiative are laid down.

On the occasion of the 19th Tour de Ski, yet another step was taken towards the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, and above all, towards the future of Val di Fiemme. Between one exchange of jokes and the other, another major commitment was discussed: Val di Fiemme, with the support of the FISI, seems increasingly determined on bidding for the 2033 World Championship. The seed of Milano Cortina's legacy is already ready to be planted...
